joie de vivre n. zhwa duh vee-vruh
[F., lit., joy of living]: keen or buoyant enjoyment of life. Exuberance.

Kathleen Buchanan would add 'childhood' to that definition. She strives to embody this concept in all of her garments — from the overall choice of fabrics to the tiniest trim - a sense of playfulness is her signature.

joie de vivre came from Kathleen's life-long love of texture, color and pattern coupled with her love of her two delightful little girls. Starting out sewing for them, Kathleen was rewarded with their hoots and smiles upon twirling in a new skirt for the first time. The reward grew as moms at preschool began requesting skirts for their daughters. And so on until a real business was born. Kathleen still feels completely thrilled when seeing a little customer wearing her favorite capris (or dress, or poncho, or skirt) months or even years after purchase!
